Unlike the electronic cigarette, the wax pen, also known as the dab pen, vape pen, etc., is used to consume liquid cannabis extracts that undergo a distillation process to separate the cannabinoids from undesirable elements.  

The wax pen, a cannabis vaping device illegal in Quebec, contains virtually pure substances, with THC (the cannabinoid that produces psychoactive effects) levels higher than those found in products sold by SQDC (Société québécoise du cannabis).

  • Increased risk of :  
    • Depression 
    • Anxiety 
    • Bipolarity 
    • Schizophrenia 

The biggest users are young people aged 15 to 17 (44%) and those aged 18 to 24 (29%). A rise in cannabis use by vaping can be observed from 2019 to 2021 among young users aged 15 to 17, from 25% to 44%.
